A trip to Hungary can lead to countless opportunities for fun, not to mention numerous chances for you to soak up one of the most colorful cultures in the world. It’s so easy to assume that you just need a few days to explore the wonders of Hungary given its relatively small size (compared to other European countries);
however, you may find yourself wishing to extend your stay indefinitely, just to partake of the veritable feast for the senses that Hungary can deliver to every traveler.
Are you still unsure of what to do while you’re in Hungary? If you answered to the affirmative, here are some of the ways you can have fun while soaking up the fascinating Hungarian life (and everything that comes with it).
Sightseeing
There are two ways to go about sightseeing in Hungary: you can book guided tours along with other like-minded travelers, or you can choose to do it your way and make your itinerary as you go around the country.
You can also do a combination of both options – just go for the choice that will suit your needs and wants, as well as your budget (whenever applicable). Whatever option you choose, here are the ways you can enjoy the numerous sights and sounds of Hungary:
By Boat – You have to experience going on a boat ride on the River Danube in Budapest to be able to appreciate its beauty – and to understand the magical quality of this majestic body of water. The most fascinating sights of Budapest can be seen while you’re on the Danube; you can even feast on a romantic dinner aboard some of the most competent cruises you’ll ever come across.
By Bus – Cities around Hungary, especially Budapest, can be explored by bus. There are bus tours that last from two to four hours, depending on the destination and included activities. Alternatively, you can also take the bus to any place you want to go to, without joining scheduled tours. Just be sure to take a map and arm yourself with as much information as possible, and you’re on your way to a great adventure.
By Air – There’s nothing more memorable than looking at the wondrous landscape of Budapest from a few hundred feet above the ground. This feat can be achieved by sailplane and helicopter tours that are offered by some of the most competent companies in the land.
By Foot – As soon as you get to your preferred Hungarian destination, nothing beats exploring the new sights than by walking around. This way, you can also interact with the locals, who will be able to give you a better look at what makes Hungary a truly remarkable place. Don’t forget to wear your most comfortable pair of shoes for this activity!
Take a Bath!
No, we’re not talking about taking multiple showers here. More specifically, we’re talking about the thermal waters that flow from more than 1000 thermal springs across Hungary, most of which have been transformed into luxurious spas and baths. The most well-known among these baths is Budapest’s Szechenyi Baths, although hundreds more are scattered all around Hungary. Soothe your tired muscles, and treat yourself to the relaxing, hot waters that are known to calm even the most harried of travelers.
